Upcoming Services, Events & Opportunities to Serve

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 23rd at 9:30 AM - TRANSFIGURATION SUNDAY.  The Message, "Sent," will focus on Matthew 17:1-9.  Just as the disciples witness Jesus' tranformation on a mountaingop, we are called to be witnesses of who Christ is by changing the lives of the people who are most in need of our help. There will be a Children's Message.  The Chancel Choir will sing, "He Is God!" by Johnson/Fettke.  COME JOIN US AS WE SEEK TO BE FOLLOWERS OF THE WAY OF JESUS CHRIST.  ALL ARE WELCOME!

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 23rd & WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 26th AT 11:00 AM - NEW BOOK STUDY IN THE SNOW ROOM.  Church leaders and members will be discussing the first two chapters of John Dorhauer's book, Beyond Resistance: The Institutional Church Meets the Postmodern World.  The book defines many of the challenges we are facing in our culture as the last two generations have become adults and have moved or not moved into the life of local churches.  He writes about generational shifts in thinking and believing and the distrust of institutional life itself.  These insights can help congregations and clergy stop asking the question, "What are we doing wrong?"  These insights can help us examine what is important to us and what is not.  The reality is that so much about what we have learned in the past about growing and maintaining faithful congregations no longer applies (some of it does, but we need to discern what that is and how to reuse it).  ALL ARE WELCOME!

TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 25th AT 9:00 AM - VOLUNTEER TO SERVE AT THE SALEM NUTRITION CENTER.  Please consider volunteering to help serve meals to our lunch guests at the Salem Nutrition Center.  Volunteers meet at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 26 East Church St., Fairport, NY and carpool to Salem, or you can drive there: 60 Bittner St., Rochester, NY.  GIVE THANKS TO GOD, FOR GOD IS GOOD!  VOLUNTEER WITH A GRATEFUL HEART!  ALL ARE WELCOME!

NO MATTER WHO YOU ARE, OR WHERE YOU ARE ON LIFE'S JOURNEY, YOU ARE WELCOME IN THIS UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST.  GOD LOVES YOU, AND SO DO WE!
