NEWS IN THE PEWS

WELCOME NEW MEMBERS:  We welcome the following new members into First Congregational UCC: Deborah Assenzio; Donna DiMaria; John H. Jay; Susan K. Jay; Glenda Mitter; Mary Stevens; William Stevens; and Virginia Whiteman. Please join us in welcoming these people by greeting them and enjoying a piece of cake with them during Coffee Hour.

THIRD SUNDAY/SECOND MILE OFFERING:  The envelope in your bulletin is for the “Third Sunday – Second Mile Offering” to support the work of the Board of Missions and Outreach.

EPISTLE DEADLINE:  The deadline for the next Epistle Newsletter is this Thursday, November 21. Please note that next month the deadline will be one day early on Wednesday, December18th.

CHRISTMAS DECORATING:  We will be decorating the sanctuary on Saturday morning, Dec 7 at 10am.  Come and join us for a fun time of fellowship and creativity. Children are welcome to help, too!

POINSETTIA SIGN-UP SHEET:  Christmas is in the air again! Please help us make our sanctuary beautiful and festive by contributing for a poinsettia plant. The sign-up sheet is on the rolling bulletin board. Deadline is Sunday, 12/1.  Poinsettias will be available for donors to take home any time after the Christmas Eve Candlelight service.

ADVENT DINNER:  This year the Advent dinner is Sunday, December 8 immediately following the children's play. Please bring your own place setting and silverware as well as a dish to pass. Dessert and beverage will be provided. As a special treat the deacons will be providing the ham. Please join us for a festive and fun evening.

ADVENT MUSICAL: Rehearsals for the Advent Musical, The Grumpy Shepherd, will be held Sunday evenings at 4:00 pm throughout November and the performance with take place at the Advent Dinner on December 8. 

ANNUAL YOUTH GROUP REUNION & CHRISTMAS PARTY:  The date is Monday, December 23, 7:00-10:00 p.m., in the basement classroom. Come for the whole time or just for a while. Reconnect with your former youth group friends and with Karen Hamill. She would love to see all of her former students. There will be an optional Christmas gift exchange. Bring a canned good or paper product for the Food Shelf. Enjoy FRIENDS, FOOD & FUN!

LIGHT THE NIGHT: Thank you to Ed and Carol Johnston for keeping the steeple lights burning bright through the month of November in memory of their parents, Gordon and Louise Seaman and Ed and Lidia Johnston.

FIRST CHURCH BOOK CLUB will meet in on November 18 at 1:00 pm to discuss All I Can Do Is Pray: Discovering the Power of Prayer. We are pleased to have the author of the book, Rev. Julie Cicora, as our guest speaker. All are welcome to attend. We will not meet in December.

PERINTON FOOD SHELF:  Soup, beef stew, salad oil, mayonnaise, salad dressings, spaghetti, tomato products, oatmeal, rice mixes, cookies, strawberry jelly, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, Jell-O boxes, pudding boxes, cake mixes, frosting, brownies, fruit cocktail, boxed potatoes, chili, corned beef hash, sloppy joes/Manwich, and the non-food items of laundry detergent, dish detergent, toothbrushes, and deodorant.
