CORONAVIRUS PROCEDURES:  Out of care for one another during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we are keeping "social distance."  As a result of this the Church Council has decided to suspend all Worship Services, Book & Bible Studies until further notice. The building will be closed to all meetings and activities. If you need to contact Pastor Greg he can be reached by email at  or by phone at (585) 966-9416. Vicki will be working from home as much as possible. The best way to reach her is by email at She will be checking the voicemail at the church so, if you call, please leave a message and someone will get back to you. If you have a pastoral emergency call Pastor Greg directly at his phone number above. Pastor Greg will record an abbreviated Service each Sunday that will be uploaded to our church’s website ( each Monday. All of our Church Boards and Church Council will conduct meetings via conference calls, Zoom, or email. 

STEWARDSHIP:  With Church Services on hold we still need your support. I know I will miss the chance to put in the weekly envelope. Well here’s some good news! We have a variety of ways to continue our support. You can mail a check to the church covering your regular pledge amount or use your own bank’s online bill-pay feature. Alternatively, you may use the “Donate” tab on our church website (note: PayPal charges a fee for the website payments). Or you can transfer Stock (you may want to let the market bounce back first). Whatever way you choose to continue your support know that our church family appreciates the ongoing support! Thank you. ~Brad Bowersox, Stewardship Chair.

BOOK DISCUSSION:  We will have an interchurch discussion on John Dorhauer's Beyond Resistance that will be held via a Zoom meeting on March 24th & March 31st at 7:00 P.M.  If you wish to participate in these Zoom interchurch discussions, please download the Zoom app onto your smartphones and email your email addresses to Pastor Greg. You will be emailed instructions how to participate in these Zoom discussions.

CELEBRATING OUR LIFE TOGETHER:  Last Saturday, 18 members of our congregation spent 3 hours volunteering at the FoodLink Distribution Center. We worked on the "first sort" line where donated food and personal supplies are sorted, boxed and placed on pallets for the next step in the distribution process. Everyone worked really hard, but the work was fun and the time flew by. Special thanks go to our 3 "runners" - Jared Mulley, Eli Pasley and TJ Pasley! As we finished our shift everyone agreed it would be fun to return another time.

PERINTON CONGREGATIONS HABITAT FOR HUMANITY sponsors a house every three years. They are sponsoring a new house this year. The house will be built by Flower City Habitat for Humanity. This house will cost $65,000; $3000 of which has come from First Congregational UCC. Groundbreaking will be May 16, 2020 at 79 Lime Street in Rochester, NY. The house will be two stories with three bedrooms and 1½ bathrooms.  Anyone wishing to volunteer can visit after May 1, 2020.

LENTEN PROJECT - BLESSING BAGS:  I would like to recommend that anyone who has signed up to shop for the Lenten Project of providing hygiene products for the Open Door Mission hold off on shopping. Last week, I bought enough hygiene items to fill 10 blessing bags using the amount given in cash and checks. And, we already had some people leave their purchases in Fellowship Hall. If you have already purchased the hygiene items, please leave them in Fellowship Hall in the next week or so. I will find a suitable time to deliver the completed bags to the Open Door Mission. 2019 YEAR END TAX STATEMENTS are ready. If you would like yours mailed to you, contact the church office by email or leave a voicemail.

AN INVITATION FROM THE ADVENT HOUSE:  We cordially invite you to attend our Twenty-sixth Annual Advent House Dinner Dance and Auction at the Monroe Golf Club on May 22, 2020 (rescheduled from April 18) from 6:00 p.m. until midnight. This festive, fun-filled evening is one of our major fundraisers and helps to meet the expenses of providing “no-cost” care to our Residents and their families. Your support would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in attending or making a donation of goods for the auction or placing an advertisement for the booklet, please call Advent House at 223-6112 for further information. LIGHT THE NIGHT:  Thank you to Eileen Slocum for keeping the steeple lights burning bright throughout the month of March in memory of Lester Slocum.

PERINTON FOOD SHELF:  Most needed items include Canned chili, sloppy joes/Manwich, hash, beef stew, soup, canned pasta, tuna, baked beans, potato mixes, applesauce, salad oil, mayonnaise, salad dressings, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice boxes, applesauce cups, pudding cups, fruit cups, crackers, cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix, syrup, Jell-O boxes, pudding boxes, cake mixes, frosting, brownies, rice, rice mixes, peanut butter, jelly stuffing, gravy, pasta products, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, and tomato products. They also accept personal hygiene products, paper products and cleaning products.
