ANNUAL PROGRAM MEETING – REPORTS ARE DUE TOMORROW, MAY 10:  Our annual Program Meeting, usually held in May, has been postponed until September. The date and time to be announced. However, the Annual Report packet will be available to the congregation by the end of May. Each board must submit their Annual Report for the church year May 2020 through April 2021 AND their roster of 2021-20221 board members to the church office by Monday, May 10th. CONFIRMATION SESSION:  The next Confirmation Session will be in-person on Sunday, May 16th from 1:00-2:30 P.M. at Mt. Rise United Church of Christ, 2 Mountain Rise, Fairport, NY. 

CANAL DAYS PARKING FUND RAISER (June 5 & 6):  Time is passing quickly and Canal Days is approaching. The church needs your help parking cars during canal days on June 5 and 6. Each day has a morning and afternoon working time slot. If you are able to help, please send a message to Brian Sherry at or leave a message for Brian at 585-233-1010. Please include name, day, and time slot availability if sending information to Brian. Each time slot has a limited number of spots. Therefore, sign-up will be on a first come first served basis. Be sure to sign-up quickly to guarantee your preferred time slot. Pizza will be served for lunch and water will be available during the day. Please feel free to call Brian if you have any questions.

ALL ADULTS, TEENS AND CHILDREN ARE INVITED to an Outdoor Movie Night on Saturday May 15th! We will be watching the Disney/Pixar movie Soul. Bring your camping chairs or blankets and we’ll provide the big screen, popcorn, movie candy, water bottles, and social distance circles for each group! The church parking lot opens at 6:30 p.m. and the movie will begin at 7:00 p.m. Capacity is limited so safe social distancing practices can be observed. VBS:  July 12-16 from 9am until 12 noon. Registration is open for participants and volunteers. VBS is open to all children who have completed Kindergarten through the completion of 5th grade. We are looking for adult and pre-teen/teen volunteers for our in-person VBS. Any child who has completed 6th grade through 12th grade is welcome to volunteer. We have opportunities of all shapes and sizes ranging from decorating, crew leader, crew assistant leader, game crew or snack helper. Volunteers will be required to have a background check. ZOOM BOOK STUDY & PRAYER GROUP:  You are invited to participate in the 11:00 A.M. Zoom Book Study & Prayer Group on Wednesday, May 12th. WEEKLY IN-PERSON WORSHIP RESUMES:  For everyone's safety, please continue to observe all COVID safety protocols including the wearing of masks, signing the contact tracing log, and appropriate social distancing. There will not be any paper bulletins handed out on Sunday. Please print out the bulletin (from your email or the church website) and bring it with you or scan the QR code on your phone or tablet as you enter the church. There will not be any prayer request cards in the pews. If you have a prayer request, please send it to Pastor Greg via email at by 8:00 on Sunday morning. We will still be streaming the virtual Worship Service on Facebook Live. If any member of your household tests positive for COVID-19, less than 14 days from their last time in the church, it is imperative that you contact Pastor Greg ( and our Moderator, Doug Strong ( right away. The church accepted the obligation to complete contact tracing for all positive cases and we cannot do that without your help. 

BUSINESS MANAGER JOB OPENING:  In June, after serving the Church for 22 years, Sue Brooks will be retiring as Business Manager. Sue's dedication and professionalism will be greatly missed. The Trustees have commenced a search for her replacement. The job is a salaried one day per week position reporting to the Trustees. The Business Manager works closely with our Pastor, the Office Manager, and the Treasurer. Having experience in finance coupled with computer skills is required. Experience with the program "Quick Books" will be helpful. The position is open to all members of the Congregation, as well as non-members. A detailed job description may be obtained by contacting Vicki Sherry. If you have an interest in the position or know of someone who would, please contact any one of the Trustees (David Coon, Joe Charles, George Dorr, Jim Franzen or Dave Mosher).

THE CONGREGATION'S HELP IS NEEDED to fill volunteer positions for the 2021 - 2022 Church Program Year, which begins on June 1st. Please consider your ability to serve on Church Council as Assistant Moderator, or as a member of the Board of Family Ministries, Membership or Trustees. FIRST CHURCH BOOK CLUB:  On May 24 we will be discussing A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles. Irene Utter will send an email in regard to whether the Book Club will meet via Zoom or at an in-person location. Due to the Memorial Day holiday, our May meeting will be on May 24 instead of May 31.

2021 FUNDRAISING TRIP UPDATE - ISRAEL:  The Oct '21 Germany river cruise has been postponed. However, we have a new opportunity. Celebrity Cruises is offering an 8-day sailing Sep 27 - Oct 3, 2021: Athens-Santorini-Crete-at sea-Haifa, Israel-Ashdod, Israel- at sea-at sea-Athens! With 2 1/2 days docked at Israel, I'll be booking private touring, if there is interest. Sites include:  Sea of Galilee, Capernaum, Jerusalem, Wailing Wall, Gethsemane, Bethlehem, the Dead Sea, and Masada. The ship is only accommodating up to 50% capacity.
