NEWS IN THE PEWS
January 19, 2020

COFFEE HOUR HOSTS NEEDED:  Volunteers are needed for coffee hour. You do not need to provide baked goods. Instructions for making the coffee and tea are posted in the kitchen.

THIRD SUNDAY/SECOND MILE OFFERING:  The envelope in your bulletin is for the “Third Sunday – Second Mile Offering” to support the work of the Board of Missions and Outreach.

THANK YOU: The Board of Missions and the Perinton Food Shelf extend thanks to all who contributed food for Christmas Baskets. The churches of Perinton provided 75 baskets to needy people in the town. First Congregational UCC provided 5 of these.

FOOD DRIVE:  Our church is partnering with Boy Scout Troop 207 to help the Perinton Food Shelf through the month of January. In the post-holiday winter season, the food shelf can use restocking. Food items will be collected every week during January. A special location has been provided in Fellowship Hall for these items.  The boy Scouts will deliver all of the jointly collected items to the food shelf. 

BOOK CLUB will meet on at 1:00 pm on Monday, January 27, to discuss Educated: A Memoir by Tara Westover. On February 24 we will be discussing Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate. On March 30th we will talk about Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens.

2020 FUNDRAISING TRIP: Mediterranean Cruise Oct 12-22, 2020...10 Night Cruise:  Venice - Greece ports, Katakolon, Santorini, Mykonos, Athens, Crete, & Corfu + Ephesus, Turkey...Plus 3-Day Rome Package with Vatican Museum/St Peters Basilica Tour! LIGHT THE NIGHT:  Thank you to David and Janice Coon for keeping the steeple lights burning bright through the month of January in celebration of their granddaughters.

PERINTON FOOD SHELF:  Most needed items include Canned chili, sloppy joes/Manwich, hash, beef stew, soup, canned pasta, tuna, baked beans, potato mixes, applesauce, salad oil, mayonnaise, salad dressings, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, juice boxes, applesauce cups, pudding cups, fruit cups, crackers, cereal, oatmeal, pancake mix, syrup, Jell-O boxes, pudding boxes, cake mixes, frosting, brownies, rice, rice mixes, peanut butter, jelly stuffing, gravy, pasta products, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, and tomato products. They also accept personal hygiene products, paper products and cleaning products.
