SOUND SYSTEM HELP NEEDED:  Jim Rogers and Jim Franzen have been doing the sound for the streaming and the audio recording of the Sunday service. They currently alternate weeks. Jim Rogers will be moving out of the area shortly. We will absolutely need to find a second person to operate the sound system on alternating weeks. If you can help please contact Jim Franzen. This job is easily learned by anyone who can use a computer.

BUSINESS MANAGER JOB OPENING:  In June, after serving the Church for 22 years, Sue Brooks will be retiring as Business Manager. Sue's dedication and professionalism will be greatly missed. The Trustees have commenced a search for her replacement. The job is a salaried one day per week position reporting to the Trustees. The Business Manager works closely with our Pastor, the Office Manager, and the Treasurer. Having experience in finance coupled with computer skills is required. Experience with the program "Quick Books" will be helpful. The position is open to all members of the Congregation, as well as non-members. A detailed job description may be obtained by contacting Vicki Sherry. If you have an interest in the position or know of someone who would, please contact any one of the Trustees (David Coon, Joe Charles, George Dorr, Jim Franzen or Dave Mosher).

THIRD SUNDAY/SECOND MILE OFFERING: Next Sunday is the 3rd Sunday of the month. The “Third Sunday – Second Mile Offering” supports the work of the Board of Missions and Outreach. Anyone wishing to make a contribution to this special offering may mail in a check payable to First Congregational UCC and write “Second Mile Offering” in the memo portion of your check.

THE CONGREGATION'S HELP IS NEEDED to fill volunteer positions for the 2021 - 2022 Church Program Year, which begins on June 1st. Please consider your ability to serve on Church Council as Assistant Moderator, Clerk, or a Member at Large, or as a member of the Board of Worship Ministries, Family Ministries, Membership or Trustees. The details of all positions can be found in The Epistle.

JESUS SEEKS DISCIPLES AND WE NEED YOU!  We are seeking youth and adult disciples to help bring Rocky Railway: Jesus' Power Pulls Us Through (our upcoming Vacation Bible School) to life! Join us during the week of July 11-16 to lend a hand and catch the vibrant spirit that will fill our church. Volunteers are vital to the success of Vacation Bible School! We have opportunities of all shapes and sizes ranging from decorating, crew leader, game crew or snack helper. Please contact Christina Hartpence chartpence.ucc@gmail.com if interested.

FIRST CHURCH BOOK CLUB will meet Monday, April 26th, at 1:00pm via zoom. We will be discussing the book, When We Believed in Mermaids,  by Barbara O'Neal (note: this is a change from our original selection). Anyone who wants to join should email Irene Utter at iutter@rochester.rr.com

CLAPPING:  After much feedback and discussion, Worship Ministries has determined that we would like to discourage applause during Sunday Church services after all musical interludes. Our beautiful church music is not meant to be a performance; rather it is meant as a form of prayer or praise. We believe that clapping disrupts the spiritual feelings generated by the music. Thank you for your cooperation!

PRAYER REQUESTS:  Please email your prayer requests and joys to Pastor Greg (revgregrup.ucc@gmail.com) by 8:00 on Sunday morning.

WEEKLY WORSHIP SERVICE: With the health and safety of our congregation and our community as our highest priority, Church Council has temporarily suspended our in-person worship offering. Church Council will continually monitor the situation, and at a minimum will re-evaluate our decision during regular meetings on the 3rd Thursday of each month. Until then, we'll be together on Facebook where our livestream will continue each Sunday at 9:30. The link is: https://www.facebook.com/First-Congregational-United-Church-of-Christ-Fairport-NY-174043249305098 (you do not need to join Facebook to view the service). If you are having difficulty watching the Sunday service on Facebook, please let Jim Franzen know what type of problem you are experiencing. He can be contacted at jjf4711@gmail.com or 223-8074. An audio Worship Service will be recorded and downloaded to our church’s website (www.fairportucc.org) each Sunday by 11:15 A.M. If any member of your household tests positive for COVID-19, less than 14 days from their last time in the church, it is imperative that you contact Pastor Greg (revgregrup.ucc@gmail.com) and our Moderator, Doug Strong (strongs@frontiernet.net) right away. The church accepted the obligation to complete contact tracing for all positive cases and we cannot do that without your help.

CHECK OUT PASTOR'S BLOG:  Pastor Greg is doing a weekly Pastor's Blog Bible Study & Reflections on our church's website during this time of social distancing. The Pastor's Blog will be posted each Thursday. Check out www.fairportucc.org and click on Pastor's Blog.

CONTACT US: If you need to contact Pastor Greg, he can be reached at revgregrup.ucc@gmail.com or (585) 966-9416. Sue is still working from home and can be reached at sbrooks.ucc@gmail.com. Vicki is working from home as much as possible. The best way to reach her is by email at vsherry.ucc@gmail.com. She will be checking the voicemail at the church so, if you call, please leave a message and someone will get back to you. If you have a pastoral emergency call Pastor Greg directly at his phone number above.
