NEW LOCK DOOR POLICY:  A new safety policy will begin December 3rd concerning locking the doors during the church service. We are all are saddened by the recent shootings that have taken place in our country. The Board of Christian Education and Church Council feel that our utmost concern is the safety of our children. When our children are in their classrooms we would not know if someone entered Fellowship Hall from the side or back doors. Once the church service has begun, the ushers will lock the back door, handicap door, kitchen door, and door by the Boy Scout entrance. The front door to the church will remain unlocked. We will post signs on the doors to remind people. Our church welcomes all our members to enjoy our building and make it available to all. Unfortunately, because of the times we live in, we need to know our children are as safe as possible. We are sorry for this inconvenience and thank you for your understanding.

OUR ANNUAL FINANCIAL MEETING:  The meeting will be held on Sunday, December 10th, immediately following the worship service. The budget for 2018 will be discussed and voted on. Please plan on attending.

POINSETTIAS:  To complement our Church’s Christmas celebration, on Sunday December 10 we will be placing in our sanctuary and columbarium approximately 15 beautiful poinsettia plants in honor or memory of our current and past members and friends.  Anyone wishing to dedicate one of the poinsettia plants may do so by noting a donation of $12.50 on the sign-up sheet in Fellowship Hall. Kindly submit payment to the Church office. Thank you. Your Board of Worship.

THANK YOU:  Thanks to everyone who contributed to the youth group bake sale on November 12. With your support we were able to raise $150.00, enough to support our adopted child for several months.

HILLSIDE CHRISTMAS TREE:  We still have some ornaments on our Hillside Tree attached to gift wishes the children and youth at Hillside have expressed an interest in receiving this year. Perhaps you can join another member to provide a gift if it’s a bigger ticket item. Please remember to return your gift to the church by Dec. 10th.

IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN:  Time to decorate the sanctuary for Advent & Christmas. On Saturday, December 2 at 9:00AM the Christmas tree will need to be assembled. Unlike today’s modern trees which are assembled in sections, our tree needs to be put together one bough at a time. If you would like to help get the tree ready, we need bough ‘straighteners” and “fluffers” before they are attached to the ‘trunk’. Then at 10:00AM the sanctuary decorations and the tree decorations need to be done. There’s plenty of fun for everyone, so come join our church family in our ‘fluffing’and decorating party. Without your help it couldn’t be done. -Worship Ministries

HAMILTON COLLEGE A CAPELLA CONCERT:  Our own Sarah Hoover will be performing with Duelly Noted, a Hamilton College a cappella group, in the church sanctuary on Saturday, December 16th, at 6:30 p.m. All are invited.

SPECIAL CHRISTMAS CHORAL MUSIC PROGRAM:  On December 17 the Chancel Choir will present "How Great Our Joy!" by Lloyd Larson and Douglas E. Wagner. Joy is a pervading theme throughout the Bible: "They that sow in tears shall reap in joy." (Ps. 126:5)  "Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning." (Ps. 30:5b) "I bring you good news of great joy! For to you is born this day a Savior, Christ the Lord." (Lk 2:10-11)  This worship experience will present the joyous Christmas message with fresh and powerful music, sung by choir and soloists; accompanied by strings and organ.

BOOK CLUB:  On November 27th Joyce Cowden will lead our discussion of A Man Called Ove, by Fredrik Backman. We meet in Fellowship Hall at 1:00 and all are welcome. The Book Club will not meet in December. Any questions? Call Irene Utter or Muriel Gabbey.

ADVENT HOUSE TO OPEN SWEET CHARITY RESALE BOUTIQUE & SHOP:  Advent House will be opening a resale store at Whitney Town Center Plaza, 650 Whitney Rd., on November 29.  Prior to opening, Donation Days are being held to secure inventory.  We thank you for your overwhelming support through the years! We welcome your generosity as we transition from our long-held Garage Sale to a store that will provide a consistent, year-round source of income for operations, while allowing Advent House to remain a fee-free place of peace and comfort for residents and their families. Donation Days are November 9-11 and November 15-18 from 10am-4pm at the store location--follow the signs for drop-off at the back of the building! We can gratefully accept the following items in the best of condition:  Furniture, Antiques & Vintage, Linens & Decorative Pillows, Artwork, Jewelry, Frames, Purses, Small Appliances, Home Décor, Lamps, Puzzles, Holiday Décor, & Cookbooks.  Please visit and like our facebook page Sweet Charity Fairport for additional information or email sweetcharityfairport@gmail.com with questions.  Thank you for considering Sweet Charity as worthy of your generosity.

BABYSITTERS NEEDED: The Board of Christian Education is looking for volunteers for a free babysitting event to take place Dec 9th from 12-3 pm in Fellowship Hall.  This event will be limited to 25 children, ages 4-10 yrs. of age. We will have activities planned for the event. Please contact Irene Utter, Ms. Jen, or Pastor Greg with any questions. There is a sign-up sheet in Fellowship Hall.

ADVENT DINNER:  The Advent Dinner hosted by the Board of Deacons will be held on Sunday, December 3rd 2017, at 5:30 pm, following the 4:30 PM intergenerational craft activity in upper Fellowship Hall sponsored by the Board of Christian Education. A sign-up sheet is posted on the rolling bulletin board in Fellowship Hall or you can call the church office. On the sign-up sheet, please indicate how many adults will be attending, how many children will be attending (to meet Santa!), and the “dish to pass” you plan to bring. Remember to bring your own plates and silverware. Beverages, cups, napkins, and dessert will be provided. If you have any questions, contact Wade Utter or any of the Deacons. Deacon contact list is posted in Fellowship Hall.

ATTENTION SUNDAY SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS:  The youth of our Church need your help!!!!  Please check the sign-up sheets (found on the rolling bulletin board and outside of the nursery) to volunteer your time by either assisting in our Sunday morning youth class or by helping in the church nursery.  Your help is appreciated and needed.  If you have any questions, please see Nan Notar or Irene Utter.  THANK YOU FOR YOUR HELP!

LIGHT THE NIGHT: Thank you to Dave and Paula Dickson for keeping the steeple lights burning bright in November in memory of their parents, Howard & Maude Frank and Donald & Georganna Dickson, and sisters, Ann Gordon Dickson and Sally Frank Wing. Thank you to Dave and Pat Mosher for “lighting the night” for the month of December in memory of their parents. 

PERINTON FOOD SHELF needs include bottled juice, Jell-O and pudding, cereal, oatmeal, stuffing, gravy, jelly, pasta (spaghetti not needed), tomato products, mayonnaise, salad dressings, mustard, tuna, sloppy joes, soup, paper towels, toothpaste and toothbrushes, deodorant, and facial tissues.
