THE PERINTON FOOD SHELF needs for the summer are: Beverages: fruit juices and kid’s drinks, Condiments: ketchup, mustard. Desserts: cake mixes & frosting, brownie mixes, pudding. Fruit (canned): pears, fruit cocktail. Meals (canned): canned pasta, canned meats, canned stews, canned chili. Paper items: paper towels, toilet paper. Personal items: toothbrushes, shampoo, and deodorant. Sandwich Fixings: jelly, peanut butter. Starches: potato mixes, rice, spaghetti, stuffing mixes. Staples: flour, sugar, coffee, tea. As always, thank you so much for your donations.
THE MEMBERSHIP COMMITTEE IS exploring the possibility of using Facebook as an outreach tool. We need to have someone who is willing to maintain a Facebook page for the church. The commitment is possibly 3-4 hours per week. If you are interested, please contact Maureen Campolieto, at 223-4498 or mcampolieto@frontiernet.net.
THERE WILL BE NO CHILDREN’S CHAPEL on September 5. Other than that date, there will be Children’s Chapel during the summer.
TEEN DEFENSE CLASS, Sat., July 31st, 1-4pm: Attention parents!! Did you know that 1-in-3 teens reports some form of dating violence in their relationships? Don't wait until your child is a statistic. Prepare them now to understand the issue and be safe if something goes wrong. Join Safe Journey & Fairport Karate for a 3-hour Teen Dating Violence Prevention & Self-Defense Course at Fairport Karate (in Perinton Square Mall) on 7/31 from 1-4pm. Excellent information for college-bound teens. Cost is $35, open to teens 14+. Check, cash or credit card accepted. Contact Safe Journey, 585-425-1580 or safejourney@frontiernet.net to register. Applications can be found posted on our Community Bulletin board in Fellowship Hall.
SPRING OR SUMMER CLEANING? Items left over from your own garage sale? The Advent House is sorely in need of items for its 2010 Garage Sale. We are still accepting donated items until August 16th...you can drop off your items in the garage anytime...a volunteer will open the garage door if it is closed. We are accepting furniture, household, sporting goods, tools, toys, children's books and cookbooks. The sale will be held this year at the VFW, 300 Macedon Center Road, on Friday, August 27th, 9 am to 7 pm and Saturday, August 28th, 9 am to 4 pm.
THE CHURCH-WIDE GARAGE SALE IS COMING!!! The church wide garage sale is on Friday, October 1 and Saturday October 2 and will features booths where individuals or groups of individuals can sell their garage sale items as a benefit for our church roof project. Additional volunteers need to bake cookies, pies, cakes, quick breads and other items for our Baked Foods booth. We will also need extra individuals to help out during the day. ARE YOU MY BROTHER’S KEEPER? The 2nd Annual My Brother's Keeper Gift Bazaar will be Friday, November 5 and Saturday, November 6. We need people to help us re-paint the old Antique Show signs, volunteer to help move in/move out stuff for the show, serve food, and a sundry of other tasks. Sign-ups are in Fellowship Hall! MORNING CIRCLE will meet on September 14 at 10 AM in Fellowship Hall. New members are always welcome—just bring a sandwich and stay for lunch—beverage and dessert provided. In March we were introduced by Mrs. Emblidge to Daystar, a facility in Pittsford that provides daycare for medically-fragile infants. We will collecting items for Daystar at the September meeting. Needed are: Size 3 diapers, paper towels, Clorox wipes, dishwater detergent, toilet paper and postage stamps.
